Drawing Art Gallery CHAOS

KOSA BOKŠAN (Berlin, 1925), graduated from the Academy of fine arts in the class of professor Tabaković. She joined “Zadarska grupa” in 1947. She has been living and working in Paris since 1957. She had about 20 one-man exhibitions (retrospective in Novi Sad in 1985 and in the Museum of Contemporary art in 2000) and took part in numerous group exhibitions. She was given a studio by the French Ministry of Culture in 1986. She is one of the founders of “International artists' gatherings” in Vela Luka, on the island of Korčula. She is engaged in tapestry, mosaic and murals.

The characteristic of those, a bit gloomy pictures made in chalk, ink, coal on paper or card-board is reflected in a pronounced feeling for black and white contrast. Phenomena of lights are presented with the hidden source, located behind an object. Special role was given to a line as a unique sensor for inner tension. The line is dynamic, full of expressive tension. It is a furious line for writing, defining, sharp contour-lines and sometimes it destroys the shape…The process is important for her…a tendency toward pictorial problems can be sensed more than depicted presentation. The motive is almost irrelevant…
