"In portraits, it is more close to the expected relation in which the drawing is an elaboration of certain character, personality, volume of which the sculpture is trying to conjure up. In Jankovic's stylized relieves this relation is rather different – the drawing often has a role to be a spark, a quick promoter of the future work of art… The whole series of works made long ago, characterized by  an intimate counter point – associative figures and small figures, like medieval warriors on frescoes, the drawing has the third place and the role – it is a kind of a process of maintaining the creative situation, a kind of almost musical variations on that theme."
