Drawing Art Gallery CHAOS

THE WHITE

Progressive Hopes IV

The exhibition of drawings named as “The White” within the scope of Progressive Hopes 4 in the Chaos Gallery includes a group of artists. Those are Lidija Delic, Smilja Ignjatovic, Nina Ivanovic, Isidora Krstic, Ana Pavlovic, Nina Simonovic, Bojana Stamenkovic and Marija Sevic. I take this opportunity to express my thankfulness to Marija Dragojlovic who few years ago, together with other professors, proposed a group of students, at that time at the beginning and now at the end of their studies, who have continually participated in the program of students’ interventions in the public space of the Cara Lazara Street, in the performance exhibition the Progressive Hopes 2006-2009 organized by nKA-MKM and Chaos Gallery. I was from the very beginning fascinated by their spontaneous and creative inventions. That group of painters and a sculptor exhibit in the Chaos Gallery today their “white” works which we formally call drawings though they now belong to the sphere of quite open approaches and interpretations. Those are mostly works on paper or with paper, with wire, fabric, cotton wool, gauze, gypsum or terracotta, with the use of pencil, color, thread, glue, foils and slides. Their find their motives in the near things and close ideas, those of memories, childhood, literature, fashion and from personal sensibility transformed with their artistic imagination and treatment into a new repertoire of things, works and meanings.
